Welcome to the Community Services Department

Our professional staff manage the operations and facilities of our following divisions: Recreation Programs and Events; Parks, Forestry and Open Space; Center for Performing Arts; and Shoreline At Mountain View and Shoreline Golf Links. Additionally in our service delivery to Mountain View citizens, valuable partners enhance our mission: Silicon Shores at Shoreline Lake, Michael’s at Shoreline, Live Nation at Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View Tennis at Cuesta Tennis Center, Touchstone Golf at Shoreline Golf Links, Friends of Deer Hollow Farm, Friends of Rengstorff House, Friends of Stevens Creek Trail, Peninsula Youth Theatre, TheatreWorks, MVWSD, and our many other organizations, volunteers and supporters who wish to continually improve our community through our mission. John Marchant

Community Services Director Biography

John Marchant was appointed Director of the Community Services Department in August 2019 and has been with the City for over 20 years. During his tenure, John has held several positions throughout the Department and most recently served as the Assistant Community Services Director. John graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management from San Jose State University. He is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) through the National Recreation and Park Association. John is also an active member of the California Parks and Recreation Society as well as the National Recreation and Park Association.
