Mission Statement

To provide land use, building development, neighborhood protection, economic development, and environmental policy services.

Overview

The Community Development Department is responsible for the review of development and building activity to ensure compliance with zoning and building codes, the achievement of economic development goals, General Plan policies, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), housing policies, and community values. The department assists the community in establishing land use and neighborhood plans and ensures the quality of new projects through the design and development review process. The Department staffs the Environmental Planning Commission (EPC), the Council Neighborhoods Committee, the Downtown Committee, the Development Review Committee, the Administrative Zoning hearing, the Rental Housing Committee, and the Visual Arts Committee in addition to establishing and maintaining communications with citizens, developers, businesses, other governmental agencies, and City departments. The Department also provides technical and policy support to the City Manager and other departments.

The City of Mountain View’s Below Market Rate (BMR) Rental Program is accepting applications for the waitlist. Alta Housing (AH), a local non-profit affordable housing organization, assists in administering the BMR application process and waitlist for the City.

Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from March 8, 2021 through April 09, 2021.

Completed applications must be received at the address below by April 09, 2021 before 4:00 p.m. ?Applications postmarked on or before April 09, 2021 but received after that date will not be accepted. Emailed or faxed applications will not be accepted. A lottery will determine a household’s place on the waiting list; applicants will be processed in the order of preference and lottery number. Only one application per household will be considered.
