As the City Attorney, my job is to advise the City Council and all City officers in all legal matters, represent and appear for the City in any action or proceeding, attend all meetings of the City Council, draft ordinances and resolutions, approve all contracts made by the City, and prosecute violations of the Mountain View City Code and Charter on behalf of the people.

City Attorney Biography

Krishan Chopra, a Mountain View resident since 2009, was appointed the City Attorney in 2019.He began his career with the City in 2009 serving as an Assistant City Attorney and most recently as the Senior Assistant City Attorney. With more than 20 years of experience in representing public agencies, Mr. Chopra's specialty practice areas include land use and planning, environmental law, public works construction and conflict of interest compliance. Prior to serving with the City of Mountain View, he served as Deputy County Counsel for Napa County after he had represented public agencies in southern California in private practice.  Mr. Chopra is a graduate of Colgate University and Loyola Law School.
