The City of Mountain View’s Construction Tax was established by Ordinance No. 4.73 in 1973 and is codified in Article IV (Sections 29.52-29.60) of the Mountain View City Code. Section 29.56, Tax rates, states that the tax rates “shall be fixed by resolution duly adopted by the City Council.”

 

Resolution No. 9619, adopted on February 26, 1973, established the following rates for the excise tax imposed by Section 29.55:

Each unit in a multiple dwelling (3–4 units)

Each unit in a multiple dwelling (5–19 units)

Each unit in a multiple dwelling (20+ units)

Each mobile home lot in a mobile home park

$82.50

Non-residential buildings (commercial, industrial, other)

$0.08/square foot of floor space for each building, or portion thereof
