The City of Mountain View and Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) are partnering to help apartment communities, condominiums, and other multifamily properties install electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at a lower cost.
Available Rebates
Through a combination of SVCE rebates and additional funding from the City of Mountain View, eligible multifamily properties with four or more residential units may receive:
- Up to $4,500 per Level 1 or Level 2 charging outlet
- Up to $8,500 per Level 2 charging port
In many cases, incentives can cover up to 100% of project costs or a substantial portion of installation expenses.
Rebates can help offset the cost of:
- EV charging equipment
- Installation
- Eligible electrical infrastructure upgrades needed to support charging
Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis while funds last. Apply for rebates here!
Silicon Valley Clean Energy administers the EV charging rebate program and manages applications, rebate reservations, and payments. Property owners, property managers, homeowner associations (HOAs), and authorized representatives must apply through SVCE before purchasing equipment or beginning installation.
Why add EV Charging?
EV adoption is growing rapidly in Mountain View and throughout the region. In Santa Clara County, EVs represented more than 41% of new vehicle sales in 2025, demonstrating strong local demand for electric transportation. Adding EV charging can help multifamily properties:
- Provide a convenient amenity for current and future residents
- Support residents who already drive or are considering an EV
- Increase access to at-home charging for renters and condo owners
- Improve property competitiveness as EV adoption continues to grow
- Support local and regional climate goals

Property owners, managers, homeowner associations (HOAs) and residents who are interested in EV charging are encouraged to complete the Multifamily EV Charging Interest Form.
The form helps the City share program updates, resources, and information about EV charging opportunities with interested community members. It also helps the City better understand local interest and future charging needs.
Completing the form does not commit you to installing EV charging, reserve rebate funding, or serve as a rebate application. It simply allows the City to share updates, resources, information about available incentives, and future EV charging opportunities with interested community members
