City to host 2027 academy with sessions in person
The City of Mountain View will hold a Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy beginning in March 24. Registration opens on December 1, 2025.
Through the program, participants are encouraged to increase their civic engagement, leadership and volunteerism in the community. The Academy also prepares individuals to serve on City Council advisory bodies and committees.
Details about 2025 Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Mountain View resident
- Commitment to attend all 10 sessions over 10 weeks and a graduation
- Meets every week on Wednesdays from 5:30—8:30 p.m.
- March 26 - June 11, 2025
- Space is limited to 30 participants.
- Registration is open through March 7, 2025
- Application form will be available in English and Spanish starting in December
- Commitment to attend all 10 sessions over 10 weeks
Participant Opportunities

- Meet the members of the City Council and staff
- Understand how Mountain View citizens can participate and get involved in issues that affect the community

- Childcare for children over 7 years old and light dinner offered
Objectives of the Program
- Educate and increase knowledge about the issues and functions of the City, services, activities
- Develop awareness of the role of residents in the city government
- Prepare individuals to serve in advisory groups and committees
- Explore opportunities to serve on nonprofit boards in the community.
Schedule and location
The 2027 Spanish Civic Leadership Academy will meet every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., from March 24 through June 9, except on April 7. The participants will meet in person at various City of Mountain View facilities. Classes are free to the public.
Información adicional
This is the eighth year that the City is hosting the Academy. The program launched in 2017 with over 194 participants completing the program to date. Each session is led by staff from City departments and includes information on each department’s core service function, major activities, programs and project overview. The program also features interactive exercises and group discussion.
