! City Council approved more funding for Mountain View's limited time electric water heater rebate. The City's utility partner is experiencing a few-week delay in beginning to process the rebates. Advice is that individuals should continue to reserve their rebates, as the funds will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis in the reservation system. We encourage any residents planning to upgrade their water heaters to reserve their rebates now.

Heat pump water heaters (“HPWH”) are the most energy efficient and environmentally-friendly choice. They heat water by pulling heat from the surrounding air and transferring it to the water. The process can be four times more efficient than traditional gas-fired water heaters, which burn natural gas to generate heat or electric resistance water heaters, which create heat by running electricity though metal.
