Nine-year-old tragically dies in pool drowning

We are heartbroken to share the news tonight that we are investigating a drowning at an apartment complex pool.

Around 4 pm on Wednesday, July 6, Mountain View dispatchers received a call that a 9-year-old boy had been found unresponsive in a pool on the 1800 block of Ednamary Way. While officers were en route, dispatchers provided CPR instructions to the caller, and life-saving efforts were then taken over by responding MVPD and MVFD personnel.

The child was transported to an area hospital where unfortunately he died.

Detectives responded to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time, they are working to understand the circumstances around this tragic incident.

“I am devastated about this case,” said Chief Chris Hsiung. “We are all thinking about the family tonight.”
