Mountain View investigation results in arrest of child predator

A repeat offender who targets children is behind bars once again following an investigation involving Mountain View detectives.

In early April, Mountain View investigators were tipped off to a man who was attempting to contact minors to share explicit photos and then subsequently meet with them with the intent of having inappropriate contact.

During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify the man as 61-year-old San Jose resident Ian McIntosh.

McIntosh is a known offender, having served two prison sentences for crimes involving children. He is also a registered sex offender.

On April 21, Mountain View detectives in partnership with the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested McIntosh without incident at his home in San Jose. He was arrested on suspicion of distributing lewd material to a minor, contact a minor for sexual purposes and arranging a meeting with a minor for a lewd act.

McIntosh was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail and is being held on $115,000 bail.

This investigation remains ongoing, but detectives are concerned that McIntosh may have targeted other children. If you or anyone you know may be a victim, please contact Detective Jacob Cesena at Jacob.cesena@mountainview.gov

“Once again, we have taken a person who would willingly do harm to children off of the street,” said Sgt. Tim Dahl. “I am proud that our detectives continually work to keep our most vulnerable residents safe.”

Our thanks to the Silicon Valley ICAC team, spearheaded by members of the San Jose Police Department.
