Mountain View officers and detectives were proud to be a part of the arrest of the auto burglars in Sunnyvale last night that led to the recovery of multiple items stolen out of cars in our city.
On Dec. 20, patrol officers began receiving numerous reports of auto burglaries downtown and along the El Camino Real corridor. While we were responding to those calls, we also began communicating with neighboring agencies – including the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety – to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle that had been identified in our incidents. A short time later, we learned that Sunnyvale DPS officers tried to stop the car, a black two door sedan. During that attempt, the suspects rammed the officer head-on and then tried to run away.
Fortunately, the officer is ok and shortly after the collision, two suspects were arrested. More on the arrest can be found here.
Our Crime Suppression Detectives will be conducting follow-up investigations into our cases, and we are working to return stolen property that was recovered. Several victims have already received their items that had been taken.
More information will be shared as we are able. We’re very grateful for the partnership we have with Sunnyvale DPS and the San Jose Police Department, who assisted in the arrest of these individuals.
