Statement regarding Bubb Elementary School closure

UPDATE: While we continue to investigate, we have learned that this kind of threat is part of an ongoing series of threats that have been sent to schools across the world over the last few years. We continue to maintain a presence at Mountain View schoosl out of an abundance of caution. The threat has been determined to not be credible. There is no threat to public safety.

Early this morning (Nov. 4), the Mountain View Police Department was contacted by Mountain View Whisman School District officials about a potential threat targeting Bubb Elementary School students and staff.

We immediately began an investigation, working closely with school staff and school district administrators to keep them updated as we learned more.

Ultimately, school administrators made the decision to close Bubb Elementary today out of an abundance of caution. We stand by this decision, and we will have an increased presence both that Bubb and at our other Mountain View schools today to ensure all students and staff remain safe.

We are actively investigating the threat and will update if and when we can share more. There is no current threat to public safety.

The safety of our schools is of the utmost priority. We remain committed to ensuring our students and school staff feel safe on their campuses.
