Mountain View detectives investigating shooting at Rengstorff Park

Mountain View detectives are investigating a shooting that resulted in two people injured Wednesday afternoon.
Around 1 pm on September 15, officers responded to reports of a gunshot heard at Rengstorff Park, located on the 200 block of South Rengstorff Avenue. During the investigation, two victims were identified, both suffering minor injuries. One was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Both are expected to fully recover.
Officers extensively searched the area, ultimately determining that a shooting had occurred near the basketball courts. While no shooter was located during our initial canvas of the area, witnesses did describe a suspect leaving the basketball courts after the shooting occurred. That suspect is described as a Hispanic adult man between 20 and 30 years old with a slim build, roughly 5 feet 8 inches in height. He was seen wearing a grey shirt and black pants.
The area where the incident occurred was closed to the public while our team continued to investigate. At this time, no one has been arrested.
We do not have information to share at this time about what led to the shooting. Additional details will be provided as we are able.
