Officer Dorene Hansen retiring

Trailblazer. Hustler. Powerhouse.

Those are the words that describe Dorene Hansen. Since she started with MVPD in 1993, “Doe” as she is fondly called has always been a go-getter. She was one of our first female K9 officers, and she closed out her career investigating (and arresting) some of the largest mail theft crews in the Bay Area.

Officer Hansen was well known for her role with Odin, her K9 who also faithfully served the Mountain View community and beat her to the punch on his retirement – he’s still enjoying it, by the way.  Now, the two get to enjoy it together, as partners.

“Doe” retires as our most senior police officer, and she will leave a lasting legacy here at MVPD. Her hard work, her dedication to all who call Mountain View home, and her relentless pursuit of closure and justice will drive us all forward to emulate.

We will miss her easygoing attitude, her not-so-secret candy stash, and most of all, the comradery she brought to every team she served on.

Her last day is July 8. A huge congratulations on your retirement, Dorene.
