Today, we mourn the death of former Mountain View Police Officer William Hamilton, who served the Mountain View community in the 1960s and 1970s.
Hired in April 1962, Officer Hamilton worked on patrol before he was assigned to the Traffic Division as a Motor Officer. He spent several years in that position before he was promoted to the role of sergeant.
After a career with MVPD, Officer Hamilton left the department in 1971 to a second career in pharmaceutical sales.
For our team, Officer Hamilton is forever remembered as one of five unnamed motor officers depicted in a photograph, standing in a line, ready to serve. The image is what all our officers see at the top of the stairs that lead toward the patrol briefing room.
Our thoughts are with the Hamilton family tonight. Thank you, Officer Hamilton, for your service to our community.
