Please join us in congratulating our entire dispatch team, which has been nominated for extraordinary and exemplary service to the Mountain View community and the police and fire departments in 2020.
2020 was a year of constantly changing unknowns, tribulations, and a myriad of events that will forever be remembered. Despite numerous challenges our dispatchers faced with the COVID-19 pandemic and more, the team worked through it together. Keeping the high levels of customer service, the team continuously scored above the state standard for all 9-1-1 and seven digit emergency calls answered and maintained high compliance standards for the entire year.
COVID brought many new challenges and this team was very diligent with the work schedules, safety protocols, cleaning, and sheltering-in-place – providing a safe haven for their co-workers and their families. They helped collect donations and raise funds for fire victims over the summer -- some of which included our own who were evacuated as the CZU Fire spread throughout Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. Our dispatchers have pulled together and worked many, many hours of overtime to help cover basic staffing and last minute sick calls, keeping up the minimum staffing standards to ensure no one had to work alone.
One team member commented: “…no matter what risks we had to face coming in and no matter how long the hours were or how stressful the times were, we all came in and we took care of each other.” For excellence in performance during extraordinary times, the Mountain View Police and Fire Dispatch Team is nominated for the Dispatcher of the Year Award for 2020.
