MVPD seeking witnesses in shooting that injured two

We are asking for your help in locating additional witnesses in a shooting on Friday that injured two teenagers.

On April 9 around 8:30 pm, officers responded to El Camino Real near Castro Street for reports of shots fired. Officers arrived in the area and initially did not locate any victims. A few minutes later, we received word that two gunshot victims, both teenage males from Mountain View, had arrived at an area hospital for treatment. One of the victims was hit several times in the upper body and the other victim suffered a gunshot wound to their upper body.

Fortunately, both were treated quickly and were subsequently released from the hospital.

Officers canvassed the area for casings and subsequently found several in the eastbound direction on El Camino Real. Our preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect allegedly drove up next to the victim vehicle and fired several rounds before driving away. The suspect vehicle was described by the victims as a black, four-door SUV with a dark tint, and was last seen heading eastbound on El Camino Real at a high rate of speed. We have no suspect description at this time.

We have refrained from releasing information on this incident until now to follow up on potential leads, including conducting interviews and gathering additional investigative material. While that work still continues, we have no additional information at this time. We are asking the public’s help in locating the vehicle and the shooter. Please reach out to the Detective Dan Garcia if you have any information at dan.garcia@mountainview.gov.

We will release additional information as it becomes available, including any images.

Media inquiries can be sent to PIO Katie Nelson at policepio@mountainview.gov.
