A Mountain View man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred earlier this month at the Super 8 Motel.
On Friday, Oct. 11, we received a report about a woman from Nevada who had stayed at the motel, located on the 1000 block of W. El Camino Real. According to the woman, around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 7, she got up and opened her door to allow some fresh air into her room. Shortly thereafter, a man walked up to the door and began to talk to the woman. She briefly spoke with the man, but then the woman asked the man to leave. However, the man allegedly instead walked into the room, then offered the woman alcohol and narcotics before he proceeded to sexually assault her. The suspect eventually left the hotel room, and the woman returned home to Nevada where she sought medical help and then contacted us.
During the course of our investigation, the woman was able to help identify the suspect who had walked into her room that early morning – 23-year-old Roberto Carlo Gomes-Galan of Mountain View. With that information, officers were able to contact Galan on Oct. 23 and after additional follow-up, Gomes-Galan was arrested on one count of rape.
Gomes-Galan was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
“This was just another example of our detectives’ commitment to keeping the community safe,” said Sgt. Dan Vicencio.
