Home burglar apprehended by MVPD officers

A 21-year-old man was arrested early this morning (Friday) after he tried to run away from officers during a home burglary.

Around 1:15 a.m. on July 26, officers responded to a home on the 1000 block of Carlos Privada for reports of a burglary in progress. The homeowners, who were not inside their house at the time, called police after their security cameras alerted them that there was an intruder inside their home.

As officers approached the home, they spotted a flashlight moving around inside, followed by lights turning on. A few seconds later, a man, identified as 21-year-old Milpitas resident Louis Lozano, walked out of the front door of a home, wearing a mask and gloves.

He was carrying a backpack full of property from inside the home, which included electronics and jewelry.

Lozano spotted our officers and immediately began running away. Officers chased after him and after a short foot pursuit, MVPD patrol officers were able to detain him.

It appears that Lozano was able to gain entry into the home by shattering a back door.

He was subsequently arrested for residential burglary, resisting arrest, and wearing a mask to avoid being detected by police. Lozano was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
