MVPD looking to identify man who followed teen in car

Mountain View police are looking for a man who repeatedly attempted to get a teenage girl into his vehicle as she headed home from school on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 5:10 p.m., officers were called to a home near the Americana and Continental Circle for reports of a man who had spent several minutes attempting to get a 15-year-old girl inside his vehicle. When we arrived, we spoke with the teen, who had called us to report the incident. She said she had gotten off of the bus at the stop on El Camino Real at the Americana when an unknown male in a car drove up to her and asked her to get inside his vehicle. The girl said the man followed her for more than 10 minutes as she continued to walk home. She attempted to cross the street to avoid him, but the man continued to follow her. He made several attempts to entice her into his car, pulling up next to her and indicating for her to get inside. The teen does not know the man, nor had she seen him before.

The girl even called a family member and had them on the phone with her in an attempt to distract the man from following her, to no avail. Eventually, the teen was able to elude the suspect and make it safely to her home.

The man is described as a white adult male between 35 years old and 40 years old, roughly 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 140 pounds. He was described as having a skinny build, was clean shaven except for some hair on his chin, and he had brown hair. His car is described as a beige, four-door BMW that was low to the ground. The rear windows were tinted, and the teen said the car appeared to be well-maintained and clean.

If anyone recognizes the description of the suspect or the vehicle, call us immediately at 650-903-6344 and ask to speak to Detective Pablo Donato. You can also reach him at Pablo.donato@mountainview.gov.
