Police are investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision that left one woman dead Saturday night.
Around 8:20 p.m. on April 13, Mountain View police received reports of an unconscious woman lying in the roadway at the intersection of El Camino Real and Palo Alto Avenue. Both Mountain View police and Mountain View firefighters responded to the call.
When the teams arrived on scene, multiple life-saving attempts were made, but unfortunately, the pedestrian, only identified at this time as a female adult, was declared dead a short while later. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision, also a female adult, remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor for the driver involved in the collision.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Westbound traffic lanes at El Camino Real and Shoreline Boulevard will remain closed throughout Saturday night while crews look into the incident and clear the scene. The estimated reopening time of those lanes is early Sunday morning.
We will continue to update you as we are able.
