A Mountain View man was arrested after he fired a gun inside an apartment during an argument with a relative late Monday night.
No one was injured.
Around 10:20 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call for a man with a gun who had possibly fired shots inside a home on the 100 block of Calderon Avenue. When officers arrived, they learned one of the men, identified as 34-year-old Fernando Bautista, had fired a handgun inside an apartment during an argument with a relative.
At the time of the incident, the suspect’s wife and child were also inside the home when the gun was discharged.
Officers learned that after Bautista had fired the gun, he allegedly drove out of the complex in a white Ford truck. Bautista then crashed the truck near Pioneer Way and Dana Street before running back to the apartment, where at that point, he was detained by officers.
Officers were able to locate the gun, which had been thrown as Bautista had fled away from the scene, along a wall near the creek that runs adjacent to the apartment complex.
Bautista was subsequently arrested for shooting at an inhabited dwelling, assault with a firearm, child endangerment, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, and battery. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
