MVPD prevents porch pirates from pilfering packages

Three people were arrested Thursday after an alert officer spotted a package theft in progress.

On March 8 around 11:40 am, one of our officers spotted a maroon Honda Civic idling in front of a home on the 900 block of Marilyn Drive. The officer then spotted a man, later identified as 25-year-old Siu Leasiolagi, run from the car to the front porch of the home, where he grabbed a box that had been delivered to the residence. Leasiolagi then ran back to the car before the driver of the vehicle took off. The officer drove after the Honda and stopped it a short distance away with the assistance of additional patrol units. Inside the car, officers found three packages stolen from Marilyn Drive.

As we spoke to the driver of the Honda, 35-year-old Dary Pech, and to another passenger sitting in the front seat, Priscilla Wiltz, our officers learned both were in possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine pipes. A driver's license, recently stolen from a neighboring city as well as stolen mail that contained personal identifying information from nearly a dozen people were also found inside the car.

All three were subsequently arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, theft and possession of stolen property. Pech and Wiltz were also arrested for possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. Leasiolagi was also arrested for probation violation and for outstanding warrants.

We are very proud of the proactive police work our officers undertake every day to ensure the safety of our community. This is a great example of how our officers protect and serve.
