MVPD to conduct month-long downtown enforcement in March

BOLO.

Residents, visitors and passers-by will see an increase in March of police officers in the downtown area as we work to ensure traffic safety for all.

The enforcement, education and engagement efforts, funded by the Office of Traffic Safety grant the Mountain View Police Department received this past fall, are part of our overall goal to ensure that Mountain View is safe no matter where you drive, bike or walk. We have been carefully planning this enforcement effort for some time, and we sincerely hope that it does help to address concerns and questions surrounding downtown traffic topics such as traffic congestion violations (intersection gridlock or impeding traffic in the roadway). We also hope it will help ensure that all folks bike and walk safely in the downtown area, as well and to ensure that proper awareness is made for those on foot or on two wheels.

During this time, we will also be conducting DUI enforcement, so be sure to designate a sober driver, hail a cab or book a ride share if you plan on drinking.

So, be on the lookout! We'll see you about town.
