Yes, new construction or additions to single-family residential homes or duplex structures that meet all of the development standards of the zoning district, improvements which affect only the interior of a building, and construction of six-foot fences, are not required to obtain a zoning permit. Applicants are encouraged to schedule informal meetings with staff to obtain input and direction prior to submitting a complete application. The required materials may vary depending on the project. The applicant should meet with staff at the Development Services Center regarding the necessary materials to submit for each project. Once a complete application is submitted, staff will assign the project an application number. Once the application has received an application number, a designated fee is paid in the Finance Department on the second floor of City Hall. The project will be assigned to a planner who will assist you with the rest of the review process
