This study will focus on local transit and shuttle services in the City. It will explore the possible modification, expansion, and/or consolidation of services to better serve Mountain View residents and employees. In particular, the study will address service needs for senior citizens and students, as well as strategies for first-mile/last-mile connections. This study will perform a comprehensive review of local transit service in the City, including VTA, MVgo and Community Shuttle services, and will review and analyze service ridership, efficiency and effectiveness.
A community survey was conducted in August 2019 to help understand the travel needs of residents. The survey results, along with the findings of the existing transit service conditions and input collected from stakeholders, is documented in the Preliminary Shuttle Study Analysis report. Project status update memorandum was sent to the Council on November 27, 2019.
The next step of this Study is to evaluate potential service modifications, including an estimate of operating and capital costs. Study results and recommendations will be presented to the City Council by mid-2020.
