December 15, 2017 library remodel updates

The week ending December 15, 2017

  • Work is continuing on the new study rooms behind the 2nd floor reference desk.
  • The public Internet computers near the reference desk have been removed. This is so the area can be recarpeted and the DVDs moved to this area from the 1st floor. The new computer furniture is scheduled to arrive in late January so we hope to have the computers back by then. Until then, you have access to the computers near the magazines and in the training center.

Here’s What’s Coming Up

On December 18th we will stop holds on children’s items. This is in preparation for packing and storing the collection while the children’s area is being remodeled. Also in December work is continuing on new study rooms and staff areas.

You will see a lot of activity in January:  The community room and welcome desk will close, the Children’s area will close on January 15, a temporary collection of popular children’s materials will be set up near the holds, carpeting will begin on the 2nd floor, adult collections will start to move to the 2nd floor, the 1st floor restrooms will reopen about mid-month, and then the 2nd floor restrooms will close.

We appreciate your patience as some services are impacted during the project. We are doing our best to keep the building as accessible as possible during construction. More updates to come!
