ELEVATE HALLOWEEN!

Friday, October 22   |   7 – 9 p.m.   |   The View Teen Center

Get ready for the spookiest, action-packed Halloween party in town...with a DJ, Fear Factor Games, Blow-Up Haunted House, Candy and Caramel Apples, Pizza and Soda Station, Tarot Card Reader, Costume Contest, and more.  Costumes are not required, but highly encouraged! This event is open to Mountain View and Los Altos 6th-12th graders only.  You do NOT want to miss this!

TEEN WELLNESS RETREAT

Saturday, November 13   |   10 a.m. – 4 p.m.   |   Mountain View Senior Center 

Teens! Join us this November for this FREE Teen Wellness Retreat, where you will be empowered to thrive mentally, physically, and emotionally in your everyday life. Choose your own path during the retreat with our action-packed agenda incorporating life skills classes, recreational activities, self-care workshops, social and community engagement opportunities, and more. You will leave inspired (and ready to inspire) with new and fun tools to navigate the crossroads of spirit, mind, and body! Lunch will be served, free of charge.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 18 at MountainView.gov/TeenWellnessRetreat. Open to Mountain View and Los Altos 9th - 12th grade students (I.D. required at the event).

FREE COOKING CLASSES

Wednesdays, August 25 - October 13   |   4:30 to 5:45 p.m.   |   The View Teen Center Kitchen

Looking for a hands on, tasty activity? Join us as we provide aspiring chefs with the tools necessary to create, cook, and learn. Help us celebrate the bounty of fall as our curriculum covers nutrition, seasonal ingredients, knife skills, the purpose of core ingredients and the many cultural aspects of food. Classes run for 8 weeks and are free to The View Teen Center members. Limited space available. Classes provided by Junior Chef Stars.

FREE ART CLASSES

Tuesdays, August 31 - November 9   |   4 to 6 p.m.   |   The View Teen Center

Join us for a wide variety of FREE art classes from drawing and painting to ceramics and fashion arts! All classes are hands on, educational, and fun. Classes run for 4 weeks are free to The View Teen Center members. Limited space available. Classes provided by the Community School of Music & Arts.

VIRTUAL COLLEGE APPLICATION ESSAY WORKSHOP

Thursdays October 7, 14, and 21    |    4 - 5:30 p.m.    |   Held on Zoom

You WILL write your college app essay, and you WILL have fun doing it! In this series of workshops through creative writing prompts, you will learn how to break down the job into short, manageable, even fun exercises. Your college app essay will practically write itself. You do not have to share your writing in the sessions. Parents, teachers, and college counselors are welcome to attend the first session to learn how to help their students through this process.

Dodgeball Tournament

Friday, October 8   |   4:30 - 6 p.m.   |   Teen Center - Castro Room

"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.” Get your game on at this teen-only dodgeball tournament! The tournament will consist of games of 3 rounds (head-to-head).  Best out of 3 wins the game.  All teams will play a minimum of 2 games in a double-elimination format. Come as a team, part of a team (up to 4 players per team), or solo. Solo players and partial teams will be added to teams prior to the start of the tournament. The winning team will receive a prize basket!

Hocus Pocus Pumpkin Carving

Join us for an evening full of spooky fun! Carve a pumpkin while watching Hocus Pocus and enjoying Halloween treats. Pumpkins and carving and decorating supplies will be provided.

Teen Movie Nights

The View Teen Center offers Movie Nights each Friday night starting at 5:00 p.m. in the TV Lounge area. Grab some free fresh-popped popcorn before the movie starts! Let us know your movie requests for future dates. No pre-registration is required.

WELLNESS EDUCATIONAL SERIES

“Wishing You Wellness” provides FREE monthly workshops that focus on healthy living and coping skills. Workshops are open to 6th-12th Mountain View and Los Altos students and their parents.

Support Youth: A Call to Action!

In-Person: Saturday, October 16    |    10:30 - 11:30 a.m.    |   The View Teen Center
Virtual: Tuesday, October 26    |    7 - 8 p.m.   |   Held on Zoom

Grounded in evidence-based research from Search Institute, this workshop from Youth Community Service aims to raise awareness and to help foster positive youth and adult relationships. This workshop will give participants an opportunity to interact with supportive actions identified by youth and an opportunity to engage in conversations about youth mental health and wellness. Open to parents of teens.

De-Stress Paint Night

Tuesday, October 19   |   6:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.   |   The View Teen Center

Taught by a friendly instructor from the Community School of Music & Arts, this workshop will engage you in a painting project that will relieve stress by helping you slow down, declutter the mind, and focus. The workshop is accessible to beginners, though it will offer challenges and learning points for artists of every level. Open to teens and parents of teens.

Healthy Eats on a Budget

Monday, December 13   |   6 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.   |   The View Teen Center

This Parent and Teen cooking class is perfect for learning fundamental cooking skills and budget ideas you can use at home while having fun! Join the chefs from Junior Chef Stars for a fun night of cooking and eating- then let us clean up the mess. In this interactive workshop, we’ll be whipping up a delicious meal that you'll get to enjoy. Open to teens and parents of teens.
