Field Rentals

As outlined in City Council Policy H-7, field use permits are required for exclusive field use for any ongoing league, tournament, camp, clinic, or organized use of athletic fields maintained or managed by the City. Field reservations are for youth sport groups, adult sport groups, and those who are not participating in the Division's adult leagues but wish to use City fields. Commercial activities for private profit are prohibited per Municipal Code Sec 38.13.

Priority Application Selection

  • 1st Priority: Assigned to City-sponsored and Mountain View Whisman School District leagues/activities
  • 2nd Priority: Granted to recognized Mountain View Youth Sports Organizations
  • 3rd Priority: Unrecognized youth sports organizations
  • Last Priority: Adult sports groups

Field Rental Applications will be accepted year round and must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event date(s).

Insurance Requirements

The following insurance standards are required for all field reservations:

  • Commercial General Liability Insurance with a minimum of $1,000,000 per occurrence and a general aggregate minimum of $2,000,000. City of Mountain View must be listed as the certificate holder using 500 Castro Street, Mountain View, CA 94041 as the certificate holder.
  • Additional Insured Endorsement on the Commercial General Liability Insurance that states "The City of Mountain View, its officers, officials, employees and volunteers are additionally insured". The Additional Endorsement must be a separate document than the certificate of insurance. 

Commercial Use Permit of City Parks

As outlined in City Council Policy H-8, commercial use permits are required for conducting outdoor professional services such as but not limited to personal fitness training, boot camps, and martial arts classes.  Permits will only be issued for activities that will not disrupt the general public’s use and enjoyment of the park.


A complete Commercial Use Permit Application must be submitted by, including but not limited to, the instructor, teacher, activity leader or employing organization thereof to the City’s Community Services Department to be eligible for a permit.  Applications, along with City of Mountain View business license and proof of insurance, as required by the City, must be submitted for each permit.  Applications must be submitted at least 14 days prior to the requested start date.
