Virtual Community Tree Lighting Celebration

On Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 5 p.m., Mountain View's annual Community Tree Lighting Celebration will live on in a virtual format. Along with Santa's arrival and lighting of the Community Tree, the virtual celebration will also feature musical performances, community greetings, storytime, and more. The celebration will be viewable on the City of Mountain View YouTube Channel and cable channel 26.

Festive Downtown

The Community Services Department will be illuminating and decking out Downtown Castro Street with café lighting, wreaths and ribbons in early December. The added festivity will bring a spirited feel throughout Downtown and encourage residents to experience the magic firsthand. All holiday décor will be up until Jan. 2021, so residents can visit at their leisure.

 

Winter Tree Walk

Bring your hot cocoa and take a stroll down Civic Center Plaza to view the beautifully decorated trees of our Winter Tree Walk! Tree are decorated by local organizations and will be on display around Civic Center Plaza (500 Castro Street) from Monday, December 7 - December 17, 2020.

 

Winter Photo Stops

Looking for a photo stop for your family holiday card? Look no further! Enjoy a variety of Winter Photo Stops displayed around Civic Center Plaza and Pioneer Park (500 Castro Street) from Monday, December 7 - December 17, 2020. Enjoy a photo with our beautiful annual Community Tree, a holiday themed cutout, a decorated tree and present stacks, or the variety of trees decorated for our Winter Tree Walk.

 

Holiday Home Decorating Contest

Mountain View's first Ho Ho Ho-liday Home Decorating Contest is here! During the evenings from December 14-20, 2020, judges will drive around Mountain View to vote for the most festive homes in the following categories: Santa's Workshop, Holiday Spirit, Brightest Display, and Elves' Choice. The winners and runners-up will receive a custom holiday lawn sign. All Mountain View houses, entryways, balconies, etc. are eligible for entry. Visit the houses to see the festivity yourself! View the Holiday Map here!

 

Virtual Breakfast with Santa

On Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 8:30 a.m., join us for a virtual experience with Santa! Wear your pajamas, bring a holly jolly breakfast, and login for an interactive and live experience. During the event, families will get to visit with Santa, create crafts with elves, and listen to holiday stories. With your registration, you will get an access pass to the live event and supplies for one winter activity craft kit. Only one registration per family is needed.

Each kit contains two hands-on, creative activities which includes all the necessary supplies and an instruction sheet. Activities include: Button Holiday Cards, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Ornament, and Holiday Activity Sheets. Activity Code: 14104. Cost: $16. Registration is now closed.

 

Holiday Drive-in movie night

Due to guidelines set by the Regional Stay-at-Home Order, this activity has been canceled. Thank you for understanding. If you have any questions, please email recreation@mountainview.gov.

 

Letters to Santa

Write a letter to Santa! This holiday season, all children who are Mountain View residents can put together their wishlists and letters and send them to Santa. In return, Santa will mail a letter back! Letters can be dropped off at the Mountain View Community Center or mailed to Santa Claus, 201 S. Rengstorff Avenue, Mountain View, CA 94040 through Friday, December 11, 2020.

 

Winter Wonders: Stories and Songs for the Season

On Thursday, December 10 at 7 p.m., grab a mug of cocoa and join us for a special evening of stories, music and more to celebrate the wonder of the season. It will be an all-star extravaganza with all six of our wonderful Children's Librarians!

This program is free to everyone, but registration is required. Registrants will receive a Zoom link one day before the event begins. To register for this program, click here.

 

Holiday Virtual concert

Thursday, December 17 at 4 p.m. Music is a way to spread joy, which is why we're bringing you a Virtual Holiday Concert! Local teen musicians will be playing instruments and singing to a mixture of music, some of which will be holiday themed. To view the concert, visit www.mountainview.gov/youtube. Winter MV Rec breaks - Let's get crafty this holiday season!

Each week, Jessica will walk you through how to make simple holiday gifts and decorations using treasures from your home and nature! From birdfeeders to animal-shaped snowflakes, there will be crafts-o-plenty for your family to enjoy.
