Business and other Licenses

Building & Fire

  • All Building and Fire permits must be submitted electronically on the Building Division webpage.
  • Schedule an In-Person or Virtual Public Counter appointment online. Walk-in/Drop-in, In-Person assistance is also available at the public counter.
  • For AC Permits, Reroof Permits, Rooftop or Ground-Mounted Mechanical (Residential or Commercial), submit directly to Building for permitting. These permits will be routed to Planning staff to review for compliance with zoning regulations. 
  • Building inspections can be scheduled online at EPermits (Click on Inspections tab). 
  • Fire inspection services can be scheduled by phone at 650-903-6313 (Extension 0). 
  • General inquiries can be emailed to building@mountainview.gov or call 650-903-6313.

Community Services (Forestry/Recreation)

  • To apply for Street Tree Removal permit, visit the website or contact by phone at 650-903-6273. 
  • To rent or reserve a City facility, a BBQ at a City park, or swim lane at our City pool, visit our webpage for more information.
  • To submit a Special Events Permit on public land, parks, or streets, visit our webpage for more information.

Housing

Planning

 
  • All Planning Applications (new or existing resubmittals) must be submitted electronically online
  • Drop-In, In-Person assistance is available at the public counter.
  • All sign permits must be submitted for Planning permits first, before submitting for Building permits. 
  • All Planning Inspections for construction activity can be scheduled by contacting the Project Planner at 650-903-6306 or general email below.
  • Preliminary review of building plans for zoning compliance, prior to submitting for Building Plan Check, can be done by a Planner free-of-charge. Please email plans to the Planning email below.
  • For new walls/fences, submit a basic drawing showing desired location, elevation of fence/wall with height dimensions and type of material to the Planning email below for review.

Public Works

  • All Public Works Permits must be submitted electronically on the Public Works webpage
  • Public Counter assistance is available in-person on a drop-in basis. Virtual appointments can be arranged on an as-requested basis by the Engineer on Duty.
  • All Public Works inspections for construction activity can be scheduled by phone at 650-903-6311.
