 COVID-19 STATE/COUNTY HEALTH ORDER

   

The Santa Clara County Health Officer issued a New Order on December 4, 2020 (click here) . The original public health order went into effect at 12:00 pm on July 13, 2020. Please see FAQ's for this Order amendments and current regulations.

Under the new Order, all construction projects can resume, provided they comply with the Construction Protocols issued as part of the Order. (These protocols replace the COVID-19 Construction Field Safety Guidelines applicable to the Prior Order).

    BUILDING AND FIRE INSPECTIONS

    Your inspector will be verifying that both the County and CITY SAFETY PROTOCOL (click here) is being adhered to, prior to conducting the inspection. It is important to note that if safety protocol is not being met will be unable to conduct your inspection and you will be required to reschedule. Please review the City Safety Protocol prior to scheduling your inspection.

    BUILDING INSPECTIONS: We are now accepting new requests for building inspection. Inspections can be scheduled by calling 650-903-6313.  Inspection must be requested by 3PM, on a business day the day prior to the requested inspection date.

    FIRE INSPECTIONS: We are now accepting new requests for fire inspection. Inspections can be scheduled by calling 650-903-6313. Inspections are scheduled as they are available.  

    IMPORTANT TO NOTE: City Hall will remain closed for normal walk-in business until further notice.

     

    BUILDING PERMIT PLAN CHECK SUBMITTALS

    NEW SUBMITTALS

  • Step One:  Obtain a Project Number through our new E-Permit Plan Check Submittal (Click Here) portal. Due Note: Payment of plan check fees will be collected on scheduled appointment date/time, not prior.

  • Step Two:  Schedule an online appointment via our Appointment Link (Click Here); a staff member will contact you at the date and time specified in online appointment to provide specific directions on how to proceed with the plan check submission.     

    RE-SUBMITTALS

  • Step One:  Schedule are required to create an online appointmentvia our Appointment Link (Click Here); a staff member will contact you at the date and time specified in online appointment to provide specific directions on how to proceed with the plan check submission.

    Resubmittal package should include the following: Updated plans, Response Letter to plan check comments, and revised supplemental documents (if applicable).

    REVISION TO PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK

  • Step One:  Schedule are required to create an online appointmentvia our Appointment Link (Click Here); a staff member will contact you at the date and time specified in online appointment to provide specific directions on how to proceed with the plan check submission.

    Resubmittal package should include the following: Updated plans, revision letter detailing changes to project scope of work, and revised supplemental documents (if applicable).

    E*PERMITS ONLINE FOR ONE-TO-TWO FAMILY DWELLINGS

  • Step One:  Obtain a Project Number through our new E-Permit Plan Check Submittal (Click Here) portal. Due Note: Payment of plan check fees will be collected on scheduled appointment date/time, not prior.

  • Step Two:  Submittal package should include the following: Building Permit Application, Plan Check Number (Step One), plans and supplemental documents.

  • Step Three:  Submit electronically via email to: buildingOTC@mountainview.gov

    Simple Permit Types:  Kitchen Remodel like-for-like,  Bathroom Remodel like-for-like, Swimming Pool Abandonment, New A/C Unit with Title-24, Fences over 7 feet high, Heat Pump Installation, Voluntary Seismic Retrofit, Skylight Installation

    DEFERRED SUBMITTALS FOR ISSUED PROJECTS

  • Step One:  Schedule are required to create an online appointmentvia our Appointment Link (Click Here); a staff member will contact you at the date and time specified in online appointment to provide specific directions on how to proceed with the plan check submission. Please be prepared to provide your name, contact number, project number, address and scope of work.

    NEW SUBMITTALS - PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS (PV), ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGES (EV), AND ELECTRIC PANEL UPGRADE FOR ONE-TO-TWO FAMILY DWELLINGS

  • Step One:  Obtain a Project Number through our new E-Permit Plan Check Submittal (Click Here) portal. Due Note: Payment of plan check fees are not required for submittal.

    The City of Mountain View Building Division helps to ensure health, safety and welfare of the citizens, property owners and visitors of the City of Mountain View.

    The Building Division is responsible for plan review of all new construction, additions, remodels, fire sprinklers, fire alarms, and suppressions systems for both commercial and residential properties and construction inspection services for all projects including building, fire, electrical, plumbing and mechanical installations (except County, State & Federal Buildings). We ensure compliance with state and local codes, policies, guidelines and standards of structures within the City limits.
