BUILDING AND FIRE APPLICATIONS:

The Building Division is accepting all new applications and resubmittals of existing applications electronicallyThe available hours to submit or resubmit an application is Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (excluding holidays). Typical submission processing to accept the submitted materials for plan check review is within (24) business hours. For questions, please contact us by phone at 650-903-6313 x0 for immediate assistant. 

GENERAL INQUIRIES:

For general submittal inquiries, please contact the Building Division by email at building.app@mountainview.gov. If you require further clarification on our submittal or review processes, please send an email to building@mountainview.gov or contact by phone at 650-903-6313 x0 and a staff member will assist during regular business hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

PUBLIC COUNTER SERVICES:

  • In-Person or Virtual (via Zoom) appointments can be scheduled here:  Appointment Scheduler
  • Walk-In/Drop-In, In-Person assistance is available at the public counter.
  •  Building SubmittalBuilding permits typically reviewed by a Planner at the public counter can submit directly to the Building Division at-risk. Plans submitted will be reviewed by a Planner as part of the building plan check process.
  •  Preliminary Review or Inquiries: Any preliminary sketch or inquiry typically reviewed by Building at the public counter will be reviewed electronically.
  •  Planning Review: The Planning and Building Division encourages preliminary review for any building plans for single-family home additions/new construction, ADUs, and exterior commercial tenant improvements to ensure your plans meet zoning requirements, prior to submitting for Building Plan Check.

The Building Division helps to ensure health, safety and welfare of the citizens, property owners and visitors of the City of Mountain View. The Division is responsible for plan review of all new construction, additions, remodels, fire sprinklers, fire alarms, and suppressions systems for both commercial and residential properties and construction inspection services for all projects including building, fire, electrical, plumbing and mechanical installations (except County, State & Federal Buildings). We ensure compliance with state and local codes, policies, guidelines and standards of structures within the City limits. We see ourselves as an integral part of each project team and are committed to establishing positive working relationships, while focusing on problem solving and delivering exceptional customer service while meeting the requirements of federal, state and local codes.
