Mayor for a Day Contest

2021 Mayor for a Day contest is now closed. The elementary and middle school-aged residents will each present their winning essay submission at City Council meetings in October.

10/12/21 Update: Congratulations to the two winners of the Mayor for a Day contest. They are:

The Elementary School Mayor for a Day will be recognized at the Oct. 12 City Council Meeting and the Middle School Mayor for a Day will be recognized at the Oct. 26 meeting.

  1. Open to elementary and middle school-aged Mountain View residents.
  2. Maximum of 500 words in essay.
  3. Only one entry per person.
  4. One elementary AND one middle school-aged contestant will be selected by the Mayor.
  5. Winners will present their essays at a City Council meeting in October 2021.

Submit your entry online

The parent/guardian of the elementary and/or middle school-aged student must fill out the online contest entry form on their child's behalf. By submitting the form, the parent/guardian is giving their informed consent for their child to participate in the Mayor for a Day contest. View 2021 Mayor for a Day contest flyer.

Mountain View Mayor Ellen Kamei will select up to two (2) winning entries, one from an elementary school-aged student and one from a middle school-aged student who live in Mountain View. The City of Mountain View is not responsible for any missing or late contest entries.

All entries were due by 5 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021. Submissions are no longer being accepted for 2021.
