(Mountain View, Calif.)— After an extensive search, the City of Mountain View is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Natusch as the new City Clerk. Natusch is a Certified Municipal Clerk and member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and City Clerks Association of California. She will begin serving Mountain View on March 26, 2018 with an annual starting salary of $135,000.
“I'm honored to be given the opportunity to serve the City of Mountain View,” said Natusch. “Growing up nearby, I’ve had a lifelong connection to the City and appreciation for Mountain View’s values and sense of community. I look forward to working with the City Council, staff and community and being part of a team known for its collaboration and innovation.”
“When we put the call out for a new City Clerk, we had many excellent applicants,” said Mayor Lenny Siegel. “But Lisa really stood out with her strong background in using innovative systems to help streamline processes and allow easier access to information for the City Council and public.”
Natusch brings 16 years of municipal experience, including nine years as the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Sunnyvale, following three years in the City Manager’s Office. As the new City Clerk, Natusch will serve as the City’s election official, edit and maintain City Code, act as the custodian of the City’s legislative history, administer oaths and affirmations, and execute City contracts and agreements. She will also be responsible for facilitating the conduct of business by the Council and fulfilling legal requirements as set forth in the City Charter, Code and State Law.
Natusch will be replacing former City Clerk, Lorrie Brewer, who retired in December 2017. As the new Director of the City Clerk’s Office, Natusch will also oversee maintenance of official City records; the recruitment process for positions on boards, commissions and committees; and the public’s access to information regarding the legislative operations of City government. In addition, the Clerk’s Office provides administrative assistance to the City Council, maintains records of all Council proceedings, meets requirements regarding public postings, legal advertising, recordations and mailing of public hearing notices; and processes Assessment Districts, annexations, deeds, tax cancellations, appeals and initiative petitions. The Office also conducts City elections and administers campaign and financial disclosure laws.
