(Mountain View, Calif.)—The City of Mountain View is looking for Bay Area artists to beautify the streets. Through the Visual Arts Committee’s new pilot program called “Sidewalk Studio,” the City hopes to turn five blank utility boxes into new public art that will encourage civic pride, increase pedestrian traffic and deter graffiti. Interested artists must apply online at www.MountainView.gov/SidewalkStudio through February 28 to be considered. On March 14, five artists or artist teams will be selected from the applicants, and all artists will be notified by March 21. Residents and visitors can expect to see the new public art around town by early May. For more information, visit www.MountainView.gov/SidewalkStudio.
