Registration Underway for Mountain View’s Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy

City plans to host 2021 academy for Spanish speakers in a hybrid format

Mountain View, Calif. — The City of Mountain View will hold a Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy beginning in September. Registration for the 2021 Academy is now open for Spanish-speaking Mountain View residents to participate in the free, eight-week-long program. The Academy is designed to improve participants’ understanding of local government and City services.

Through the program, participants are encouraged to increase their civic engagement, leadership and volunteerism in the community. The Academy also prepares individuals to serve on City Council advisory bodies and committees.

Details about this year’s Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy:

  • Meets every week on Thursdays, 6:30—8:30 p.m.
    Sept. 16—Nov. 4, 2021
  • Hybrid approach for meetings with some sessions in person and others held virtually through Zoom.
  • Space is limited to 17 participants.
  • Registration is open through Wednesday, August 18.

This is the fourth year that the City is hosting the Academy. The program launched in 2017 with over 90 participants completing the program to date. Each session is led by staff from City departments and includes information on each department’s core service function, major activities, programs and project overview. The program also features interactive exercises and group discussion.
