Grant application period for City’s Small Business Grant Program opens Feb. 1-14

Mountain View, Calif. — The City of Mountain View will soon launch another COVID-19 relief program for small business. Through the Mountain View Small Business Grant Program, the City will award a total of $250,000, or 50 $5,000, grants, to small businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our small businesses in Mountain View need continued support, especially as Santa Clara County returns to the Purple Tier of the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy,” said Mayor Ellen Kamei. “Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the livelihoods of our small business owners and their employees in 2021. This grant program will provide some relief to these businesses that bring vitality and added convenience to our community.”

Eligible businesses for the grant are restaurants, personal services and retail businesses that have less than 25 employees and have a storefront location in Mountain View.

The City will begin accepting online applications from small businesses at MountainView.gov/grants from 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1 through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14.

The City will award small business grants of $5,000 each through a lottery system. This approach allows businesses to submit their applications any time during the two-week application period.

Grant recipients can use the funding for equipment/inventory, personal protection equipment, modifications to business operations to meet health order requirements, and working capital (including rent, utilities, payroll, supplies, etc.).

On February 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., the City is partnering with the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce to host a webinar about the grant program and answer questions. To register, sign up at MountainView.gov/grantwebinar.
