Sister Cities International promotes peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation by focusing on sustainable development, youth and education, humanitarian assistance, arts and culture. Based on President Eisenhower’s 1956 People-to-People Program, Sister Cities promotes the friendship of people, regardless of race, creed, or color. SCI offers communities the opportunity to participate in a fascinating and rewarding international program that enables people to proactively build world peace through dialogue and understanding.

The organization has two Sister Cities, Iwata, Japan and Hasselt, Belgium and facilitates a variety of events and programs throughout the year.
