Teachers, staff and community celebrate completion of new staff housing development, Mountain View Whisman at The Sevens

Mountain View, Calif. - More than 100 teachers, school staff, City staff and Mountain View community leaders attended yesterday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for Mountain View Whisman at The Sevens, a teacher and staff housing development years in the making.

Attracting and retaining high-quality teachers and staff can be challenging in the Bay Area due to the high cost of living. Due to skyrocketing housing costs, many teachers and staff are being priced out of high-rent areas like Mountain View, leading to long commutes and worsening staff shortages. Mountain View
Whisman School District and the City of Mountain View have championed this proactive approach to build affordable housing that will attract and retain staff who can live, teach and work in the communities they serve.

Speakers from the school district, city and development company joined forces to honor the teachers and school staff who serve Mountain View and to officially mark the completion of the development.
