1:30 p.m. - The Flood Watch remains in effect until 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26. According to the National Weather service, there is a 40% chance of showers before 5:00 p.m. For Friday night, there is a 30% chance of showers, mainly between midnight and 2:00 a.m. The weather forecast is mostly cloudy with a low around 45. Per NWS, this week's weather pattern will shift from stormy to pleasant.
Thursday, Dec. 25, Update
10:45 a.m. - From the National Weather Service: a Flood Watch has been extended through 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, across the North Bay, and issued through 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, for the rest of the Bay Area and Central Coast. Moderate to heavy rain associated with an atmospheric river will bring 2-5" in the valleys, with up to 6-8" in the coastal mountains. Creeks and streams could see rapid rises during and after heavy rainfall. Standing water is likely in urban areas and on low-lying roadways. Remember: Turn around, don't drown!
Wednesday, Dec. 24, Updates
2:20 p.m. - The National Weather Service has extended the Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, through 10:00 a.m. Christmas Day, Dec. 25, for the interior Bay Area including Mountain View, interior portions of the North Bay, and interior Monterey County. The NWS has also extended the High Wind Warning through 10:00 a.m. Christmas Day for the City of San Francisco and interior portions of Monterey County, and exposed coastal zones in the North Bay, SF Peninsula, and Central Coast where wind gusts up to 65 mph are anticipated. Per NWS, the Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday evening.
According to NWS, the weather impacts may include tree limbs being blown down and possible power outages. Travel could become difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The combination of wind and moist soils will increase the risk for downed trees.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms and a 2% probability of tornadoes for coastal portions of the Bay Area and Central Coast on Wednesday, Dec. 24. The weather forecast calls for winds continuing through the morning and a lull during the day before strong winds resume tonight through Thursday, Dec. 25.
Per PG&E, there are over 300 meters out of service in Mountain View as of 10:15 a.m. this morning, with an estimated restoration time of 4:00 p.m. For status updates, visit the PG&E Outage Center.
Tuesday, Dec. 23, Update
8:30 a.m. - The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory, which remains in effect from 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, to 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24. Per NWS, southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected with very strong and damaging winds from Tuesday through early Friday, especially along the coast and in higher inland elevations. Potential weather impacts include gusty winds blowing around unsecured objects and tree limbs could be blown down.
According to the current forecast, the South Bay is expected to experience fewer storm impacts than the rest of the Bay Area. A few power outages are likely, and residents are urged to prepare.

4:45 p.m. - The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for the entire Bay Area, minus Solano County, from 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 until 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24.
According to the weather service, southerly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Damaging winds could bring down trees and power lines, resulting in property damage.
Widespread power outages are also possible. If an outage does occur, visit PG&E's online outage center for status updates.
