Mountain View, Calif. — The City of Mountain View is one of only 112 cities and two states and regions in the world to receive the top "A" List status from the Carbon Disclosure Project for its leadership in environmental transparency and climate action. The City also received an “A” score from CDP in 2023.

"We are pleased that the Carbon Disclosure Project has recognized Mountain View for its leadership in sustainability and climate resiliency for the second year in a row," said Mayor Ellen Kamei. "The City Council’s strategic priorities include sustainability and climate resiliency. We are working collaboratively with our residents and businesses to develop policies and implement programs that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for climate change, and protect the community from sea level rise."

In 2024, nearly 1,000 cities participated in the program offered by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an international nonprofit that supports thousands of companies, cities, states and regions to measure and manage their risks and opportunities on climate change, water security and deforestation. Of these, 752 received scores, and 15% achieved an A.

The City made the 2024 A List by demonstrating that it had conducted a climate risk and vulnerability assessment, adopted plans that address climate adaptation and mitigation, published a community-wide emissions inventory, established mitigation and adaptation goals, and made progress towards achieving targets.
