Mountain View, Calif. — The City of Mountain View is hosting its first citywide Pride celebration called Together in Pride on Saturday, June 7. The free event will take place at Civic Center Plaza (500 Castro St.) and the adjoining Pioneer Park, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
“The City of Mountain View is thrilled to host our first larger-scale Pride event. For 10 years now, the City of Mountain View has held a Pride flag raising ceremony, which was started by the City’s first openly gay mayor, Chris Clark, when he was first on the City Council,” said Mayor Ellen Kamei. “Everyone is invited to join us as we raise awareness and show support for our LGBTQ+ community.”
The event will celebrate diversity, inclusion and community with a day full of exciting activities, including:
- Live performances by LGBTQ+ artists
- Roaming entertainment and interactive experiences
- A family fun zone with activities for all ages
- Community art project and creative expression
- Community organizations sharing resources and support
In addition, the event will feature an Understanding Pride Walk, featuring signs that highlight key moments in the Pride movement and explain the meanings behind various LGBTQ+ flags. The first 400 attendees to Together in Pride will receive a Pride-themed fan.
