Source Water Change from one of the City's Water Suppliers

Beginning December 29, 2016, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), one of the City of Mountain View water suppliers, changed the source water supply from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, and will deliver treated water from the Sunol Valley Treatment Plant sourced from East Bay reservoirs.  This is necessary to accommodate inspections and repairs of the Mountain Tunnel pipeline that delivers water from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.  The Hetch Hetchy shutdown is anticipated to continue through the beginning of March 2017.

Please note that changes in the water supply can disturb naturally occurring sediment in the reservoirs and water system pipelines, which can affect taste and odor. The water is safe to drink and continues to meet all drinking water standards

Mountain View customers residing in areas south of Cuesta Drive receive treated water from the Santa Clara Water District and will be minimally affected by the source change.
