January 26, 2018 Library Remodel Updates

The week ending January 26, 2018

There has been quite a bit of construction in the past week and some impacts to public service. We apologize for any inconvenience and are doing our best to keep the library open for you while the building is being remodeled.

CHILDREN'S COLLECTION

The Children’s area is closed, the collection is packed, and a small children’s collection has been set up near the holds.

CARPETING ON THE SECOND FLOOR

Carpeting has begun on the second floor, and will continue throughout the next few weeks. End panels and bottom shelves have been removed and some of the collection has been moved to carts to accommodate the carpeting installation.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

Children’s storytimes are on the move, and are being held at the Center for Performing Arts and The View Teen Center.

THE WALL

The “laptop bar” on the second floor is now inaccessible and a wall has been built around it. This is to protect the area as we begin to create a structural floor in the space that is open from the first to the second floor.

HERE’S WHAT’S COMING UP SOON (subject to change)

  • The second floor restrooms are closed for ADA upgrades but should re-open sometime the week of January 29.
  • Link+ service has been temporarily suspended but will resume on Monday, January 29.
  • Adult DVDs and CDs will start moving to the second floor late in the week of January 29.
  • Carpeting will continue on the second floor.
  • The non-fiction collection will be shifted to accommodate new shelving.
  •  The new computer tables will arrive soon and will be used as reading carrels until the computers are re-installed.
  • The magazines on the second floor will move to the octagon quiet study room in a few weeks to prepare for the construction of a new reading area.
