MVPD Becomes First PD in Calif. to Join Twitter’s Social Networking Site
MVPD Updates Now Available in Real-Time via Web, Phones and IM
The MVPD has joined Twitter and is the first police department in California to take advantage of this technology.  Twitter is a free service that can keep media and community members updated on the police department’s activities, releases and announcements on-the-go, via the web, phone or instant messaging alerts.

Keeping the public updated on PD events and police activity is a priority of the department.  This service will better connect the community and media to the activities of the PD and will allow information to be released faster and with greater ease.

Go to www.twitter.com/mountainviewpd to join for free and receive real-time updates from the department’s Public Information Officer.  Updates may include such things as emergency street closures, crime alerts, upcoming PD events, unusual occurrences, links to newly posted press releases and real-time updates from crime scenes as information becomes available.

To join the MVPD Twitter page and begin receiving updates, simply go to www.twitter.com/mountainviewpd.  To see how one police department has been successfully utilizing Twitter, go to the Twitter site for the Scottsdale, AZ police department at www.twitter.com/scottsdalepd.
