Six Stabbings Occur at Shoreline Amphitheatre Concert |
|
|
On May 30, 2009, six separate stabbings and multiple fights occurred at the Kiss Old School Fiesta Concert, held at Shoreline Amphitheatre. At approximately 9:30PM, Amphitheatre security staff members asked the Mountain View Police Department to assist them with ongoing fighting and multiple stabbings in the lawn area inside the venue.
Due to the number of stabbings and fights, the MVPD requested assistance from outside agencies. Officers entered the venue and assisted Amphitheatre private security in restoring peace. Officers also began investigating three stabbings at that time. All three male victims were transported to local area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
Shoreline Amphitheatre management ended the concert early, at 10:15PM, after the headline band War finished playing. MVPD officers, with the help of surrounding agencies, cleared people out of the venue and parking lots starting at 10:15PM.
As an ambulance was transporting victims to the hospital, a fourth stabbing victim flagged them down and was also transported. A fifth and sixth stabbing victim walked into the hospital after the event and hospital staff reported those incidents to the MVPD. There are now a total of six stabbing investigations stemming from the concert.
No suspects have been arrested at this time and the investigations are ongoing. It is unclear what the motive was for the fighting and stabbings. The actual type of stabbing weapon is unknown. None of the injuries appears life threatening. Information will be released as it becomes available.
