The SMaRT Station is the materials recovery and refuse transfer facility shared by the Cities of Mountain View, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale. In addition to providing buy-back and drop-off services, the Station processes Mountain View's residential and commercial garbage, yard trimmings, and recyclables, and accepts debris self-hauled by residents and businesses of our community. SMaRT is located at 301 Carl Road, Sunnyvale (near the corner of Caribbean & Borregas Ave.). The Station is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Please call for more information at 408-752-8530.
Residents may also drop off computer monitors, televisions, cell phones, consumer electronics, fluorescent tubes, batteries (household and vehicle), hypodermic needles, thermometers and thermostats, and used motor oil, filters, and anti-freeze at no additional charge. (Note: Other household hazardous wastes may be properly disposed at the Santa Clara County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, by appointment only, next door to the SMaRT Station. Call 408-299-7300 for a Saturday appointment.)
New! Cooking Oil Drop-Off for Residents
Cooking oil is now being accepted at the SMaRT Station Drop-off Center, 301 Carl Road, Sunnyvale. Residents may bring no more than 10-gallons of residential cooking oil, placed in no larger than 5-gallon containers. For example, you may refill your old cooking oil bottles, tighten the screen top cap, and bring them to the attendant, up to 10 gallons total of all bottles. Containers should be given directly to the attendant and will not be returned. The attendant will pour the cooking oil into a 55-gallon drum for recycling by Salinas Tallow.
