Child Fingerprinting

MVPD offers free fingerprinting for children ages 4-12 and dependent adults. We provide a floppy disk with a digital photo and digital fingerprints, as well as basic descriptive information that can be used in an emergency.

Fingerprinting for children is done by the MVPD Explorer Post during different community events such as the annual Art & Wine Festival. Stop by to see our exhibit and have your children fingerprinted.

Adult Fingerprinting
MVPD does not provide fingerprinting services for immigration or employment purposes. These services are provided by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office's fingerprinting service. Select Sheriff's Office, then search on 'fingerprinting.'

As my child grows, how often do I need to get new fingerprints?
You should have your child fingerprinted every 3 years.

How do I obtain fingerprints for employment or immigration?
MVPD doesn't provide adult fingerprinting services. These are provided, for a fee, from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department. For more information, visit Santa Clara County, then search on 'fingerprinting'.  From this site, you can make appointments online at several county locations, including San Jose, Saratoga and San Martin.

How will my child's fingerpint disk be used?
In the unlikely event that your child is lost or abducted, the data will be disseminated to local police officers and/or other law enforcement agencies to aid in locating your child.

What should I do with my child's fingerprint floppy disk?
Store it in a safe place. You can make a copy and carry it with you when you're on vacation.

When my child is fingerprinted, does the police department keep a copy of the data?
No. Many citizens prefer to keep personal information private.
