The software and equipment needed to access eBooks or audiobooks depends upon the format and its permitted use by our providers. eBooks that are read online typically requires a desktop browser, while downloadable eBooks and audiobooks require installing third-party software and will only work on supported devices. To download and read ebooks offline, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 or higher. New users need to register to access the Learning Center resources. You can read or listen to digital books or music on your computer, or on a compatible mobile device. All you need is your library account, internet access and free software from Overdrive. In addition, the Library subscribes to Overdrive Advantage that gives library users access to more copies of popular titles and additional new titles. To access exclusive titles available on Overdrive Advantage, log in with your library card number. Amazon Kindle device and Kindle app users can now checkout Library eBooks. Users simply browse or search for Kindle Book, on Overdrive, check out a title with your Mountain View Public Library account and then click "Get for Kindle."
