Public Education

The Mountain View Fire Department has a long and proud tradition of providing quality education and training services to the community. Our goal is to increase the level of fire prevention and life safety through a curriculum based, proactive Public Education Program, including:

  • Fire Safety for the Home and Business
  • Fire Safety and evacuation drills for primary school age children
  • Citywide community events
  • Community Emergency Response Team Training
  • Fire Extinguisher Training for Businesses
  • Public Education Requests

Request public education programs or presentations by contacting the Mountain View Fire Department at (650) 903-6102.

School Program

This program consists of the delivery of annual presentations to the six primary schools in Mountain View. This program targets kindergarten through second grade children who benefit from a basic fire prevention/safety message. The City primary schools include:

  • Bubb School
  • Castro School
  • Landels School
  • Huff School
  • Monta Loma
  • Theuerkauf

In keeping with our curriculum-based and age-appropriate philosophy, however, we do not make on site presentations to preschools for children under 4 years old. The Department will however assist preschools in their fire prevention efforts by offering media resources and handouts for younger children.

Fire Station Tours

  • Families and small groups are encouraged to drop by any fire station for a tour on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Please be understanding if you arrive and the crew is not at the station as they may be responding to a call.
  • Organized youth and civic groups may request tours by calling (650) 903-6102.

Neighborhood Events

City neighborhood groups may request a fire company for a static display and fire prevention handouts at neighborhood functions. Contact the Public Education Specialist for coordinate your request (650) 903-6102.
