Pancake Breakfast
The Mountain View Firefighters host a Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction every year during Fire Prevention month. The breakfast is held at Mountain View Fire Station 4, which is located at 229 N. Whisman Rd. The event runs for three hours in the morning, with a menu that includes pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice and coffee, all of which are donated by local businesses and organizations. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF).
The 2008 event was very successful, and Mountain View firefighters raised almost $11,500 for the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. Countless families had fun eating great pancakes and learning about fire safety. Mountain View Firefighters have been involved with AARBF for over 15 years. Most of the work done by firefighters involves working directly with children who are survivors of burn injuries or raising funds for programs through AARBF. Services provided by the foundation are vital to the physical, mental and emotional well being of burn survivors, young and old.
